How much does real estate video cost in Australia?

Property video is priced by length, format and add-ons, and every studio bundles it differently. These are the prices studios in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane publish on their own sites, plus the portal rules and music licences that catch agents out.

Key takeaways

  • Published walkthrough prices start at $290 to $350 in Melbourne, $300 in Sydney (GST included, plus a call-out fee) and $450 in Brisbane. Longer films with drone run $490 to $1,100.
  • Slideshows built from the listing photos start at $55, and vertical reels at $90.
  • realestate.com.au accepts video files up to 1GB, recommends 16:9 and bans agent or agency branding. Domain takes a link only, ideally YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Music needs a licence. Use tracks cleared for commercial video, or YouTube may block the video on the portals.

Melbourne and Sydney prices sit close together for a standard walkthrough. The bigger differences come from drone, call-out fees and whether GST is on top.

The five formats and what they're for

Auction videoA promo video of the auction and its resultSocial and future appraisal pitches$400 (Element)

Walkthroughs are priced by length or home size. Real Estate Photos Melbourne charges by 30, 60 and 90 seconds; Real Estate Photographer Sydney by up to 1, 1.5 and 2 minutes. Reels can be filmed on their own or cut from walkthrough footage, which is cheaper. Agent-led videos build the agent's profile as much as the listing, so they suit social more than the portal (see the branding rule below). Element suggests a slideshow for a “tight budget rental or unit”, and sells auction videos as content agents reuse in future presentations.

What changes the price

  • Length or home size. At Real Estate Photographer Sydney, up to 1 minute (a 1 to 2 bedroom home) is $300 and up to 2 minutes (a large home) is $420. White Sky Films prices by bedrooms.
  • Drone. Often the biggest add-on. Real Estate Photographer Sydney adds $85 for drone clips; Real Estate Photos Melbourne's 90-second film with drone is $490.
  • Voiceover or agent interview. $50 to $150 extra, from White Sky Films' $50 to Vivid's $150.
  • Day-to-night transitions. These need the crew to stay for dusk: $160 extra at Real Estate Photographer Sydney, and $200 for 2 hours of extra shooting at White Sky Films.
  • Local area footage. Real Estate Photographer Sydney adds $35 per location within 3 km.
  • Booking with photos. Video costs less when it rides on the photo visit (see below).
  • GST and travel. On a $500 video, GST is $50. Real Estate Photos Melbourne's sales prices apply within 20 km of the CBD, with a charge per 5 km beyond.

realestate.com.au and Domain video rules

The two portals handle video differently. This is what their help centres say as of October 2026.

realestate.com.auDomain
FormatVideo file: MOV, MPEG, MP4, AVI, WMV or FLVA link only. Video files can't be uploaded
File sizeUp to 1GBNo specs, because Domain doesn't host the video
Shape16:9 recommendedNo specs. YouTube Shorts links may not play, so use a standard watch or embed link
LengthThe help page mentions length specifications but lists no maximumNo specs
HostingNot covered on the requirements pageYouTube and Vimeo fully supported, plus approved suppliers. The link must go to the video itself, with https://
BrandingMust not contain any agent or agency brandingNot covered on Domain's video help pages

In practice, export a clean 16:9 portal version with no logo, agent intro, phone number or contact card, and keep the branded version for social, YouTube and the agency site. For what to do with that branded version, see our guide to real estate agent personal branding.

Music licensing

APRA AMCOS, which licenses music in Australia, says that if you make a video with music and put it online, you need permission from the copyright owners, and that “synchronisation clearance is required for all videos containing music when uploaded to sites like YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook.” A song from your streaming app isn't cleared for a listing video.

The risk is practical as well as legal. Domain's help centre warns that YouTube can show a “Video unavailable” error on iPhones when it detects copyrighted music, and that infringing videos can be removed or restricted. Domain points agents to the YouTube Audio Library, whose tracks are royalty free.

  • Ask where the music comes from. Studios use royalty-free or licensed libraries: White Sky Films lists copyright-free music licensing in its agent videos, and Real Estate Photos Melbourne's showcase videos come with royalty-free music.
  • Check the licence covers every place the video will run, including paid ads.
  • Ask whether the studio will swap the track if a platform flags it.

Filming on the same visit as the photos

Video needs someone on site, so booking it with the photos saves a trip and usually money. UberRE says services that need the team on site, “such as drone, a real twilight shoot, a 3D tour or video, need another visit, so it's best to book everything in one order.” Real Estate Photos Melbourne charges $100 more for video without photos, Aspect's $290 walkthrough price applies with a photo package, and Real Estate Photographer Sydney charges its call-out fee on every visit.

  1. Prepare the home once for both. Our prep checklist covers what the camera sees.
  2. Allow the extra time on site. Element allows 30 minutes for a reel and an hour for a widescreen showcase.
  3. Book the agent's piece to camera in the same slot.
  4. If you want day-to-night transitions, plan for the shoot to run into dusk.

Which video for which listing

  • Rental or small unit: a photo slideshow or a short reel.
  • Typical family home: a walkthrough for the portals, plus a reel cut from the same footage for social.
  • Prestige home: a longer film with more time on site, and twilight footage if the home lights up well.
  • Agent profile: a separate agent-led video for social and the agency site, not the portal listing.

Element Media's own advice lines up: a showcase for a standard family home, a high-end film for prestige or acreage, a reel for a social-first campaign and a slideshow for a tight-budget rental. If video is part of a bigger budget, see property marketing costs in Victoria.

How we quote video

We film walkthroughs and vertical reels on the same visit as the photos, with agent-to-camera intros on request. Most of our walkthroughs run 60 to 90 seconds and reels 15 to 30 seconds, and edits are delivered within two business days. We don't offer drone yet. Each job gets one fixed quote within 24 hours, and nothing is booked until you say yes.

FAQs

How much does a real estate video cost?

Published prices in October 2026 start at $290 to $350 for a walkthrough in Melbourne, $300 in Sydney and $450 in Brisbane. Drone, voiceover and longer edits push it to $490 to $1,100. Slideshows built from the photos start at $55.

How long should a real estate video be?

Most walkthroughs run 60 to 90 seconds, ours included. Studios price longer films for bigger homes: Real Estate Photographer Sydney goes up to 2 minutes for a large home. Reels for social are shorter, usually 15 to 30 seconds.

Can I put my agency logo on a realestate.com.au video?

No. realestate.com.au says listing videos must not contain any agent or agency branding. Upload a clean version to the portal and keep the branded one for social media and your website.

Can I use any song in a property video?

No. Putting music in a video needs permission from the copyright owners. Use music licensed for commercial video or the YouTube Audio Library, or YouTube may block or restrict the video, which can stop it playing on the portals.

Can you film the video on the same day as the photos?

Yes, and it's usually cheaper. Several studios charge more for video booked without photos, or charge a call-out fee for each visit.

Is drone footage included in a real estate video?

Sometimes. Real Estate Photos Melbourne's 90-second film and Vivid Productions' video include drone, and Real Estate Photographer Sydney adds it for $85. We don't offer drone yet.
